Your player. Your choice.

Choose Your Coach

At Scenic Valley, players and families—not a single coach—decide which team is the right fit. Eligible players may receive offers from multiple Scenic Valley coaches, compare those opportunities, and choose where they want to play.

The offer window

A clear process built around family choice.

After tryouts, an eligible player may receive an offer from any Scenic Valley-rostered coach during a Board-defined offer period. The window is announced each season and generally lasts two to three weeks before rosters lock.

Offers come through Scenic Valley

Coaches submit offers to Scenic Valley. Scenic Valley shares each offer with the player’s parent or guardian.

Families compare

Your family may review multiple offers and consider coaching fit, team expectations, schedule, and costs.

You confirm your choice

A parent or guardian accepts one offer in writing. Scenic Valley records the selection and notifies the coach.

Roster lock: The selection takes effect when Scenic Valley confirms the roster. After the seasonal roster-lock date, any change must follow the standard Scenic Valley transfer process.
Offers without pressure

Every family should be free to make their own decision.

All formal offers go through Scenic Valley and are communicated to a parent or guardian—not directly to a minor player. A coach may arrange a mutually agreed meeting with a family, but may not use private outreach, another person, or repeated contact to pressure a decision.

Pressuring a player or family to accept or decline an offer is a Code of Conduct violation. If that happens, tell Scenic Valley through our confidential reporting channel.

Know before you choose

Offers should include the full picture.

Families deserve enough information to compare opportunities fairly. Ask questions before accepting, and make sure the offer reflects the expectations discussed.

Team fit

Coaching and competition

Understand the coach’s approach, expected player role, practice plan, tournament schedule, and level of competition.

Financial clarity

Fees and obligations

Any difference in registration fees, fundraising obligations, equipment costs, or team expenses must be disclosed before acceptance and confirmed through Scenic Valley.

More ways to play

Guest-playing opportunities

When eligibility, roster rules, and schedules allow, Scenic Valley encourages guest play with other teams to help players gain experience and build connections across the association.

Requesting a transfer

Put your request in writing.

If your family wants to change teams after roster lock, submit a written transfer request to info@svaa.us. Include the player’s name, current team, requested team or coach, and the reason for the request.

Submitting a request does not make the transfer automatic. Scenic Valley will review player eligibility, roster availability, applicable rules, and any required approvals before confirming a change.
